History and About US
Smallbore rifle shooting is one of the oldest Olympic sports of the modern era. North rocks has had a number of its members represent Australia and NSW in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World Cup and Australian and State competitions.
North Rocks club was formed in 1954 to promote smallbore shooting in the North Rocks area. It was situated off Hepburn Road at North Rocks. The range was resumed with the building of the M2 Motorway. The club then moved to the Hyland Park range at Greystanes in 1991. The original Hyland Rd range was resumed in 2011 by Trangrid for a new Electricity Distribution Sub Station. Part of the deal with Holroyd Council was that Trangrid would build a new Rifle Range for the Council just up the hill from the old range.
We moved in in Jan 2011. Our club is very appreciative of all the work that was done in securing this new facility by Holroyd Council, Transgrid and Others. The best Club Range in Australia.
The club shoots at the Hyland Park Range at Hyland Road Greystanes. See our Location page.
We are affiliated with New South Wales Smallbore and Air-rifle Association Inc. (our State Body) and Target Rifle Australia (our Federal Body).
The club operates on every Wednesday night except for a 6 week break December-mid January. Shooting starts at 7.00pm and we normally shoot 3 details of 30 minutes each. Shooting is completed at 9.15pm members usually adjourn to the clubhouse to socialize. We also operate most Saturday afternoons 1.00pm -4.00pm we shoot 4 details of 30min each. The club house is then the place to discuss what went wrong today. Scores shot on Saturday may also be included for that weeks Club Competition. Most shooters use Saturdays as a practice shoot to get things sorted for Wednesday nights competition

We provide free coaching to new members. We have a quantity of club rifles and equipment that may be borrowed free to members until they decide to purchase their own. The club has a wide profile of members both male and female, junior/senior and veterans. While we promote competitive shooting this is not a requirement of the club and members may elect to shoot how they wish. We run a prize shoot every year and encourage everyone of every ability to participate in prize shoots held around Sydney and elsewhere.
